A Step-by-Step Guide to Making Your Own Homemade Scented Candle!

Are you looking to make your very own homemade scented candles? That’s a great idea. They’re highly customizable, look absolutely beautiful, and are very easy to make.

Not only do they add a classy touch to your room’s décor, but they also make an excellent gift for your loved ones.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you create beautiful, fragrant scented candles at home.

Step 1: Prepare the surface

The first step to making amazing homemade scented candles is preparing a clean, flat surface to commence your work. You can protect the surrounding areas using a paper towel or even a newspaper.

Step 2: Measure the wax

Start by measuring how much wax you will require to fill your container. Once you accurately measure the needed amount, double it, as it’ll reduce to half the quantity after it melts.

Step 3: Melt the wax

Start the melting process by pouring the wax into a double boiler. Ideally, you should allow it to melt for a good 15 minutes. And don’t forget to stir frequently so it’s evenly warmed.

Step 4: Add fragrance oils

Once the wax is completely melted, you should add fragrance oils and keep stirring for a few seconds to provide it with an exquisite floral smell.

Step 5: Attach the wick

Attach a wick to the bottom of your container before you pour in the melted candle wax. You can either use super glue or dip the wick in the wax quickly, allowing it to stick and harden for a good five to seven minutes.

Step 6: Secure the wick

You need to secure the wick in place to prevent it from swaying in the melted wax. You can use two chopsticks and lay them across, sandwiching the wick in between so that it remains centered until the wax solidifies.

Step 7: Pour the wax

Once the temperature of your boiled wax reaches 140 degrees, it’s time to pour it into your container. Make sure to leave a small amount of wax, as you might need it to top off your candle. Give the wax at least four hours at room temperature to set properly.

Step 8: Add more wax

If you notice that the top of your scented candle is not even or contains a hole, simply reheat the remaining wax and repeat the process.

Step… wait! Your own homemade scented candle is complete

If you’ve followed all these steps properly, you’ll have in front of you a beautiful, aromatic scented candle. Make sure the length of your candle wick is less than half an inch. In case it has a tall flame or starts flickering, you can adjust the wick by trimming it a bit.
